How To Deal With Anxiety In Business | Ep 120

Being an entrepreneur sure takes a lot from us and the changes that 2020 has brought to our personal and professional lives have only added stress and anxiety. No matter how hard we try to thrive and survive in the face of anxiety, it will always be there. So we ask ourselves, how do we stay calm and anxiety-free while dealing with it? As entrepreneurs, how can we be in control?

So join Kristy Yoder on today's episode of the Master Delegator Podcast as she talks about ways that can handle anxiety and stress as business owners.

7 Ways to Handle Anxiety in Business

1. Accepting That Anxiety Is Normal

Stress is one of the most common causes of anxiety, and the good news is that it can be managed to some extent. In order to find a solution, we must first acknowledge that we are stressed. This acceptance leads to awareness and that awareness leads you into actionable steps to manage it. These don't have to be complicated plans, what matters is that you've acknowledged that you're stressed and are taking steps to alleviate it.

2. Practicing Mindfulness

Being mindful is focusing completely on the task at hand. Practicing mindfulness allows you to live in the moment, expand your awareness of your surroundings, and be more attached to your senses. That way, you can do your best to turn away from racing thoughts of failure and focus on your breaths.

3. Learning To Meditate

Meditation provides mental calmness as well as other health benefits. The goal of meditation is to clear your mind of all stressors. To meditate, look for a place with peace where you can be silent for at least ten minutes. If you have trouble meditating, you could write down all of the tasks you need to complete before you begin.

4. Controlling What You Can And What You Can’t Let Go

As an entrepreneur, I understand how stressful it is to get everything done, and that is where anxiety comes in. But one thing I've learned over the years is that I can't do everything by myself, and even attempting to do everything will have a negative impact on both your physical and mental health. So, I suggest that you regularly set your priorities and stick to them. Take note of what can only be performed by you, and what are those you can delegate and control. Practicing this will help you realize that you are not alone and that you can rely on others to do tasks for you when things get out of control.

5. Delegating Some Of Your Tasks

After Knowing what to prioritize and what can be delegated, You can rely on others to help you get things done for you so that you can actually have extra time for yourself to take some stress off your plate and have the chance to do those things that you wanted to do.

6. Building And Sustaining Relationships

Establishing and cultivating cordial relationships with your peers, colleagues, and other business owners can significantly help you when you are experiencing anxiety. Having people who are on the same path as you will not make you feel isolated, and it will reduce your anxiety about not being able to make it because there are also people who are going through similar struggles as you. They will cheer you on, push you, and celebrate with you at any time.

7. Exercising And Sleeping Well

Exercising causes our bodies to release endorphins and other feel-good hormones, which have a positive impact on our mental health. While sleeping, we regulate our emotions, lowering emotional and physiological reactivity and preventing anxiety from escalating.
