“What sets us apart from other agencies is that we focus on the relationship rather than the transaction. This way we can understand and achieve your goals faster and more effectively.”

In this episode, Derek talked about how his company, TOPSHELF, helps people with no prior business expertise create their own business as well as existing companies.  He also talks about how he overcame his issues with impostor syndrome and legitimacy.

The Imposter Syndrome

Coming from the world's best golf courses, he established his company with the purpose of helping those in need, but even his Great Wil couldn't keep him from doubting himself. He was afraid that people would judge him just because he had previously worked as a farmer before becoming the founder and CEO of TOPSHELF. People who did not know him questioned his legitimacy, causing him to suffer from impostor syndrome.

He was able to expand his understanding of digital marketing and business development abilities with his friend, Dion. Later on, he answers and talks to clients on his own, giving them the opportunity to get to know him and build a strong relationship by earning their trust. As a result, he overcame Imposter Syndrome and surrounded himself with individuals who believed in him and his abilities.

Time-Saving Through Delegation

Without delegation, losing control of your time and ultimately failing to place yourself in a position to take on more and lead your team. Delegation can help save time for management and will allow more work to be completed faster.
